Jaymee Coonjobeeharry enjoys a busy freelance career that includes playing in orchestras such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and many more. After graduating from Oxford University with a Double First Class Masters in Chemistry, he undertook his musical studies at the Royal College of Music, where he was the Constant and Kit Lambert Junior Fellow in his final year and was subsequently made a Yeoman of the Worshipful Company of Musicians.
Jaymee enjoys a diverse musical life. He has worked in close collaboration with composers who have written works for him, including a Flute Concerto by Hamish Brown and a Flute Sonata by Guy Newbury. He is regularly invited by orchestras to perform as a concerto soloist on the flute and piccolo, and has performed alongside Swedish Flute virtuoso Göran Marcusson. Jaymee’s musical interests extend to jazz and he was the flute player in the National Youth Jazz Orchestra for 3 years.
Jaymee is sought after as a flute teacher, and teaches both in the UK and abroad. He has taught at the Hong Kong Flute Academy and given seminars at the Aegean Arts Festival in Crete, Greece. Whilst a student at Oxford University, Jaymee was President of the Oxford University Sinfonietta. He is a founding member of the Godiva Trio, which was awarded the Douglas Whittaker Wind Ensemble Prize. Recent performances include Ravel's ‘Introduction and Allegro’ with the Harlem String Quartet and Harpist Ieuan Jones, and appearances at the Davos Festival(Switzerland) as resident artist for two years running. Alongside his musical career, Jaymee pursues a doctorate in Computational Chemistry at University College London.
